POOF’s Arts for Social Justice Program – J4U - under our Youth Initiative seeks to engage young adults in the movement towards an inclusive, equitable society for all individuals. It is an opportunity for young adults, from all walks of life, all ethnic backgrounds, all levels of ability to learn how their voice and art can be meaningful tools for change.
Use your unique artistic voice through singing, rapping, spoken word, performance art, painting, photography, and other forms of visual arts.
Who are the J4U Youths? A group of self-advocates who are passionate about an equitable world. Members can be individuals, siblings, friends, or groups of students. Any 12 – 18-year-old who envisions a better tomorrow for everyone is welcome! Focus of the Program Building creative outlets, community outreach and personal development for our youth around issues that are important to them in Orange County.
Justice Topics include poverty, food insecurity, climate, health care system, refugee crisis, racial injustice, gun violence, criminal system, voting rights, income gaps, gun violence, ableism, sexual identity, civil rights, and more.
Program Activities This is a year-round program that requires a year-long commitment. Volunteering, attending seminars, interactive meetings, and a concert. The program includes creative sessions & interactive monthly meetings--which may include a visit to city hall or an art gallery, meeting with a social activist or presenting personal art projects at an event. Participation in POOF’s Youth 4 Social Justice Summer event Participation at POOF’s Annual J4U Concert.
