A NOTE ON TRUNK OR TREATAfter taking 2025 off, we spent time considering whether to bring Trunk or Treat back this year. As much as we would love to see this beloved tradition return, we’ve made the difficult decision to not produce Trunk or Treat in 2026.
We absolutely love our partnership with IKEA Costa Mesa and have been so grateful to co-produce this event together. However, after losing one of our other key partners, our resources were significantly diminished. It takes a tremendous amount of support and resources to produce an event on this scale, and we don’t want to bring it back unless we can do it the way our community deserves. |
This decision wasn’t easy. We are incredibly proud of the five years we were able to provide Trunk or Treat completely free to local families, creating countless memories along the way for a total of 26,439 attendees!
While it won’t be happening this year, we’re not closing the door on the future. For now, we’re focusing our time and resources on the programs we can continue to serve well. Thank you for five unforgettable years of Halloween magic. 🕸️ 🕷️ |

Africa’s critical minerals are essential to the future of energy, technology, transportation and advanced manufacturing. But Africa’s opportunity is not simply to extract more. It is to retain more value. That means investing in processing, refining, infrastructure, technology, responsible trade and regional value chains. It means connecting African governments and producers with qualified investors, financial institutions, technology providers and strategic buyers.
Through Sovereign Circle Global Group, I am working to help build those connections and support systems that move opportunities from conversation to execution. This work will continue in New York this month during the 81st United Nations General Assembly, where the Africa Minerals Strategy Group will convene its Third High-Level Roundtable on Critical Minerals Development in Africa under the theme: FROM RESOURCES TO WEALTH from September 22nd through the 26th.
The goal is clear: to help ensure that Africa’s mineral resources contribute to African infrastructure, jobs, manufacturing, innovation and long-term prosperity.
Africa has the resources. Africa has the people. Africa has the opportunity. The next step is building the partnerships and financial architecture necessary to transform those resources into lasting wealth.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM POWER OF ONE FOUNDATION In Memory of His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV Today, our hearts are heavy. On behalf of the Power of One Foundation, our leadership, our partners, and the communities we serve, I extend our deepest condolences to the Royal Family of Tooro, the people of the Tooro Kingdom, the people of Uganda, and the continent of Africa on the passing of His Majesty King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV. This is a profound loss. His Majesty departed this life at only 34 years old after nearly three decades on the throne. He became King of Tooro at just three years old, becoming recognized as the world’s youngest reigning monarch. His life and reign became inseparable from the modern history of the Tooro Kingdom. For me, this loss is also deeply personal. When I was seated in my mandate to help advance a new vision for Africa and its global Diaspora, His Majesty King Oyo was part of that mandate and part of the future we were preparing to build. The vision placed before us was extraordinary: The Greatest Return of Our Time and the development of Garuka Eka — “Come Home” — Diaspora Legacy City in the Tooro Kingdom. His Majesty was to serve as its Royal Patron and Custodian. Garuka Eka represented something much larger than buildings or infrastructure. It represented a bridge home for people of African descent around the world—a place for culture, tourism, wellness, innovation, investment, remembrance, and reconnection. His Majesty had the opportunity to help open the gates of his kingdom to a vision intended to reconnect Africa with her descendants across the world. That is why this moment hurts. We were preparing to build something that could be stamped into history, and His Majesty was supposed to be there to see it. |

But while we mourn the man, we must also honor the vision. His Majesty’s reign championed young people, environmental conservation, and tourism, and his legacy will remain part of the history of Tooro and Uganda. At Power of One Foundation, we believe that some assignments are bigger than any one person. The work of bringing Africans and people of African descent together, creating opportunity, protecting Africa’s resources, strengthening communities, and building a future worthy of the next generation must continue. His Majesty’s chapter has ended far too soon. His legacy has not.
To the Queen Mother, the Royal Family, the leadership and people of the Tooro Kingdom, and all Ugandans mourning this tremendous loss: we stand with you.

Power of One Foundation continues to combat food waste and hunger through its innovative food recovery program, feeding approximately 1000 people a month. The program combats food insecurity through food rescue while promoting sustainability and community well-being.
POOF is making a profound difference in the lives of 1000 individuals each month by partnering with esteemed food chains such as Olive Garden, Chipotle test kitchens, McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, Fleming Prime Steak House, Pizza Hut, Krispy Kreme's Donuts, and HMS International.

FAMILY SUPPORT INITIATiveThe last 15 years we have seen the community, from the youth to the elderly of Orange County, rally together with us to fight hunger and homelessness, showing that if we all work together we can solve these problems. During the Covid-19 pandemic we have seen unity and solidarity expand on an incredible scale. We were here for each, we are, and will continue to be.

GLOBAL OUTREACH initiativeThe Power of One Foundation has joined in the global fight against hunger and homelessness. For the last five years we have provided food, blankets, water, toys, clothing and other needed resources to the at-risk areas in Tijuana, Ensanada, Chiapas, Zacatecas, Rosarito and other areas in Mexico as well as areas in Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. We believe it is of the utmost importance to fight hunger on an international scale as well as in our own local communities.
