“The future depends on what we do in the present.”
COMMUNITY SUPPORT INITIATIVE
Power of One Foundation distributes food assistance through our Hunger Program food distributions (as referenced on the PARTNERS page). The POOF staff inventories the donations and prepares them for our programs and recipient agencies. POOF typically hosts a monthly food distribution and supports other smaller agencies to assist elderly group homes, veterans, and women at risk.
We are honored to have provided and continue to provide food assistance to and through these wonderful organizations doing amazing work!!
Some of the amazing organizations we’ve been able to provide with food: School Districts: Santa Ana, Garden Grove, Anaheim / Salvation Army (Santa Ana) / Sikh Center (Santa Ana) / RISE (LA) / Radiant Health Center (Costa Mesa) / Stand up for Kids (Costa Mesa) / St. John's Manor (Costa Mesa) / Save Our Youth (Costa Mesa) / Wilson Street Learning Center (Costa Mesa) / Someone Cares Soup Kitchen (Costa Mesa) / Thomas House Shelter (Costa Mesa)
COVID-19 CRISIS RELIEF INITIATIVE
On March 21, 2020 it became clear to our team that the need for assistance had skyrocketed at an unprecedented rate. In response to this need caused by the Covid-19 Crisis, POOF created this Initiative to provide Emergency Food, Diaper, and other Resource Assistance. To do so we developed our Food Distribution Program (which is a perfected drive-through model), our Curbside Pickup program (which is by appointment so recipients can receive diapers), and our Agency Outreach program (which is where we collaborate and/or mentor agencies as they work with POOF to serve their communities). These programs provide weekly support to our most at-risk communities with social distancing and necessary protective protocols intake.
This initiative was created from urgency but is continued by love.
Our youth are our tomorrow. Today’s youth are educating themselves. They are ready to take action to improve and reform their societies and the world. Power of One Foundation supports their movement and believes their voices are the most powerful platform they have. POOF’s Social Justice Program under the Youth Initiative will encourage our youth to become leaders through education and mentorship.
As we build out this program, we are excited to develop creative outlets and create space for our youth participants to grow into the leaders they are already becoming. we know they can become. We are doing this through using the arts – dance, music, art, spoken word, video production - to help them find their voices to establish their own perspectives, opinions, ideas and solutions around all the current events constantly impacting their lives.
The current climate and cultural instability in the United States is not an easy environment for our young people. From the mass shootings to the killing of unarmed black men and women to the racial attacks on Asians to all the tensions & hardship caused by the Covid-19 pandemic across the country, our youth need our support more than ever.
In American society right now, the younger generations of Gen X & Gen Z are already tuned in and activated to social justice. Their hearts are drawn to radical and important change culturally and environmentally. You can see by their reactions to the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and too many others as well as all the other violence happening in our country, our youth are fed up. POOF is encouraged by the action our youth are already taking to bring about the change they want to see. This program will help create outlets for them to do that.
ANNUAL CHRISTMAS TOY DRIVE PROGRAM
EVERY CHRISTMAS SEASON WE PROVIDED AROUND 3,000 CHILDREN WITH TOYS!
The holiday season tends to be the worst time of the year for families financially struggling and trying to provide gifts for their loved ones, especially their little ones. Our goal is simple - put a smile on the faces of children during Christmas by putting a toy in their hands and leaving a lasting impression in their hearts.
Power of One Foundation starts collecting both personal and corporate toy donations this year to build up for POOF’s first Annual Toy Drive, to ensure children in Orange County who are in need have some gifts under the tree to help with the makings of a great Christmas celebration for their families and them. It is POOF’s goal to hold an annual toy drive every year.
Donating to this year’s Annual Toy Drive provides you the unique opportunity to turn a mini Christmas into a Merry Christmas! Toys that are received this year will be distributed on scheduled dates each year. Your donations are tax-deductible; they will secure and promote our goal to spread a spark of joy during every holiday season.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE … and Change a Child’s Christmas!
